Hello,

I'm trying to dynamically populate an image into a word document using Quick Parts, but the image property is not showing up in the Quick Parts menu.

I have a Sharepoint Site Column group that has the "Image_1" (image) column and "Image Description" (text) column.Site_Column_Group

I create a new content type "Image Document" with the site columns.

Content_Type

I add the content type to my Sharepoint Document Library.

Add_Content_Type

I create a view with the appropriate columns.

New_View

I select a new "Image Document" to create.

New_Document

The document opens, and the SharePoint properties are listed: "Image_1" and "Image Description".

Document_Properties

When I go to insert a Quick Part into the document, only "Image Description" is available. Where is the "Image_1" Quick Part Property? Is it possible to insert an image using quick parts, and have it automatically update from the Sharepoint property?Quick_Parts

    Hi @Studenroth, Brent ,

I tested it in my environment and the result was the same as yours. The "Image_1" column is not showing up in the Quick Parts menu because it is not a supported column type for Quick Parts. Quick Parts only supports text-based column types.

I discussed it with Office engineers and there is a workaround for your reference:

Store the image in SharePoint and sync it locally through OneDrive.

Use the "Picture" content control. Then go to the document, on the Developer tab, in the Controls group, selcet picture content control.

Select From a file to insert a picture.

    Hope this is help.

    Hi Haoyan and Yanli,

Unfortunately I don't think this "picture" content control will work. I'd like the process performed automatically, and the extra clicks to add the picture through the content control fails to achieve my goal. I have moved on from the "Populate a Microsoft Word Template" feature, and have found success with an Excel Template, and running an Excel Office Script through Power Automate to populate the excel template with pictures, dates, and text. The Excel Office Script allows for greater flexibility and control, as it's able to dynamically populate, and then modify the same file after it has been created, which the Word template feature cannot do. Thank you for the response!
