Dear team,

I have tested to restore backup in windows server backup, we have using different servers with model 2012, 2008. and 2016

but when i tried to restore backup from 2016 it only getting last 45 days to recover back, but in 2012 and 2008 it can recover restore from last 5 months a, how it happen , can we customize this?

please give replay for this

    Hi,
    If i didn't misunderstand you ,you mean recover the DCs from the backup, right? If i misunderstand you ,please let me know.

    Based on my understanding , you backup the servers at different times you if you restore the server from the backup, they will be back to the time the server be backup.

    Not sure how many DCs do you have , but we don't need to recover every DC from backup.
    Just select one RWDC replicate from BACKUP and make other DCs replicate from it.

    not recovering DC

    just file I need to recover from windows server backup,

    my issue is that on my server 2016 I have setup windows server backup , but i can only recover file from last 45 days only,

    how it to change to oldest date, the setup configuration as below image

    but for my other servers it can recover back from than 6 month. please advice on this

    do i need to change from VSS Full copy to VSS copy backup??

    because i found only the different in backup setting is that in two different servers

    Sorry for the late reply, a little busy recently.

    Based on my understanding, your issue is that we can't recovery from the backup over 45 days. If we use backup schedule, this may due to "Automatic disk usage management", Windows Server Backup will automatically reuse the space occupied by older backups when creating new backups.

    If the backup over 45 days is deleted, this may due to there's no enough free space to create new backups.

    Besides, we may use the wbadmin command to set the oldest backup settings:
