Hi Folks, What steps must I take to take a VM snapshot before applying some changes or updates? This was a simple action when using the OnPremise like VMware ESXi or Hyper-V, so I wonder if Azure can do this simple feature. Thank you.

please navigate to the disk you want to create a snapshot of and click on + Create snapshot.

OK, so in this case the VM snapshot can be taken and then closed without causing VM downtime?

What about if the Azure VM has multiple VM disks attached?

these snapshots are per disk and there is no downtime of the VM. If a VM contains multiple disks (OS disk and data disks) you should create multiple snapshots. Another option is to create a backup of the VM, for instance using Azure Backup.
