Hello,

I am trying to complete modules which require a sandbox Azure Cloud Shell, but I'm unable to interact with the shell.

After successful authentication, etc., the shell is stuck on "Configuring Cloud Shell for sandbox access...". Screenshot 2024-01-19 at 14.37.48

Not in the sandbox, but when I try to use the cloud shell on the web portal, it just doesn't start. No error code or messages, just a vague, unhelpful message. Very annoying.

i think cloud shell is down. not opening either in sandbox or web portal. indication for taking a break from studies.. haha

I have the same problem as Udbhav Jain, since hours. Seems to be something server side, as the dev tools say there is a 504 Gateway Timeout (= something server side responds too slow) for this URL: https://management.azure.com/providers/Microsoft.Portal/userSettings/cloudconsole?api-version=2023-02-01-preview

Hey there, I was having the same problem, I tried a lot of workarounds like switching from safari to chrome, logging out and in and I started to investigate the issue on the console of Chrome and I noticed that a request named "cloudconsole" was returning an unhandled promise error.

The request returned a text describing the error, that the current user settings weren't compatible with the cloud console api version (2017-08-01-preview) which is the one used by Microsoft on the Learn modules.

So I started to try multiple requests directly to the Azure Management API to try to override or change the api version used. Most of the requests I tried didn't work, but then I remembered that the original response body of the error recommended trying to change the user settings or delete them. So I deleted them with a DELETE request.

The request I used was the following:

DELETE
https://management.azure.com/providers/Microsoft.Portal/userSettings/cloudconsole?api-version=2017-08-01-preview
Authorization: Bearer {your personal access token}
Content-Type: application/json
Origin: https://video2.skills-academy.com
x-mslearn-docsid: {your x-mslearn-docsid}
Accept: application/json
body: {"properties": null}

Your authorization token and the x-mslearn-docsid can be obtained from the failed cloudconsole request sent by some exercise module that got stuck at Configuring Cloud Shell ....
just open the inspector of safari or chrome, refresh page and search for the cloudconsole request (Fetch/XHR) on the Network tab and copy those tokens from there.

Then you can use curl or postman to send the DELETE request and if you get a 200 response code then your Azure Cloud Console should load correctly again.

With curl, you could use this as an example:

@Alejandro Alarcón Gerez Hello, really nice work on your investigation, it's surely helping, but i'm having issues with it, I'm trying to use your code to send the DELETE request, i copy pasted your code, added my mslearn-docsid and Authorization Barer to it, but I'm getting a syntax error on the first line:

I'm having the issue with this course, in this page

I was suspecting that maybe the api version have changed by now and i need to adjust the api version in the link but i don't know where i can find that, or maybe i need to direct the request to where my user settings are placed, do you know how can i find out where my user settings at? or any idea what is the issue for me here is? thanks in advance

2.Clear browser cache: Delete cached data and try accessing the sandbox shell again.
