can we create Always-on sql cluster betwwen azure and on-premisis

so is it possible to create a MSSQL always on or Distributed availability group between 2 nodes one on on-prem and another on azure vm. i saw articles showing how to add one more azure replica to already existing Availability group on on-prem which will be 3rd node.. but is it possible to create just 2 node AOAG cluster with one node on on-prem and another node on azure VM
