Hello, For a single user, AVD screen goes black and never reverts normal. Even if we sign-out the user from task manager forcefully doesn't fix the issue. We have to restart the VM to fix this issue. Causes and solutions , much appreciated. Many Thanks Gurupreet

    Hello Rajan

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform, thanks for posting your query here.

Please try these troubleshooting steps and see if it helps resolve the issue:

-Can you please make sure that the Remote desktop client is update to the latest version.

-One more possible reason could be related to graphics driver, you can also try disabling hardware acceleration in the Remote Desktop client settings.

-You can try disabling the UDP protocol in the Remote Desktop client settings.

Lastly, you can try resetting the Remote Desktop client settings to default.

If none of these troubleshooting steps help, as mentioned by Timmy in the previous response, this could be a Bug with remote desktop client.

    Hope this Helps.

If you are using a docking station with multiple monitors, try updating the firmware on the docking station. I had the same issue where Remote Desktop kept blacking out my monitors. I went through the following steps to solve it:

    1. Check graphics card driver is up to date
    2. Check graphics card settings for any app-specific settings
    3. Set Remote Desktop display settings to default
    4. Install the latest version of Remote Desktop
    5. Update the firmware to my Lenovo Docking Station (USB-C with Thunderbolt)

Step 5 fixed the issue. I was able to go back to my preferred RD display settings without an issue.
