Hi, I have an OEM device that is pre-installed by the OEM and has a recovery partition to Reset the PC. In today's situation, I have Windows's latest possible build and all the security and quality updates. When I use the manufacturer's recovery option, it resets my PC to an older version that was pre-installed by the OEM. Is there a supported scenario to perform the reset but keep all the updates.?

Hello, As far as I know, the built-in recovery option provided by the OEM will always reset the PC back to the state it was in when it was first manufactured, including the version of Windows and any pre-installed software that was included at that time. This means it will always roll back to that older version of Windows, and you’ll lose any updates that have been installed since then. Few methods to reset your PC while keeping it updated: Windows Reset: Windows 10 and 11 have a built-in feature called “Reset this PC”, which you can find in the “Recovery” section of the Update & Security settings. This can reinstall Windows while keeping your files intact. It usually keeps your system on the same version of Windows as you’re currently using, but this depends on how your system is set up. Fresh Start: Another option in Windows 10 is the “Fresh start” feature, also found in the Update & Security settings under “Device performance & health”. This will reinstall Windows while removing most of your apps, but it should keep your Windows version and updates. This option seems not available in Windows 11. Media Creation Tool: If you download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft’s website, you can use it to create a bootable USB drive with the latest version of Windows. You can then use this drive to reinstall Windows, which will give you a clean system with the latest version. This will not keep your files or apps, however, so you’ll need to back up anything you want to keep. Best Regards, Hania Lian
