How can export the created custom model in azure document intelligence model

I want to export the created custom models (extraction and classification) in azure document intelligence studio. Is it possible? And then I also want to know where I can search these created models in azure portal. Where can I search folder path that was filled when creating the custom model project. Thank you ...

Unfortunately, there is no option to export a custom model from Document Intelligent Studio but Copy option available. For moving trained models, I'd suggest using Copy model. The Copy API enables this scenario by allowing you to copy custom models from one Document Intelligence account or into others, which can exist in any supported geographical region. Follow this document for detailed instructions. The copy operation is limited to copying models within the specific cloud environment the model was trained in. For instance, copying models from the public cloud to the Azure Government cloud isn't supported. Document-intelligence/FAQ.

As for searching for the created models in the Azure portal, the created models can be found in the Azure portal under the "Custom models" section. However, specific folder paths filled during the creation of custom model projects may not be directly accessible in the Azure portal.

hi @dupammi Thank you so much for your classification. Is there needed the access to view the custom model in azure portal? I couldn't see the custom model in portal.

To view custom models in the Azure portal, you need to have the "Reader" or "Owner" role assigned to your account. If you don't have these roles assigned, you can request access from the owner or administrator of the Azure subscription. Once you have the necessary permissions, you can navigate to the "Custom models" section in the Azure portal to view the custom models. I hope you understand. Thank you.

Hi @dupammi I have Reader access in resource group but I couldn't see the "custom models" in portal. Maybe it's because I'm using it for the first time. So, could you please show me the path of "Custom models" with screenshot. Thank you very much for your warm reply.

Thank you for your follow-up question.

Since you have the "Reader" role assigned to your account, you should be able to see the "Custom models" section in the Azure portal. However, it's possible that you may not be able to see the section if you're using it for the first time.

Based on the documentation, you need at least a "Reader" role assigned to your account to access Document Intelligence Studio. However, to access custom models in the Azure portal, you need to have the "Cognitive Services User" role assigned to your account.

To access the "Custom models" section in the Azure portal, please click below URL and sign in using your userId : custommodel-projects

If you're still unable to see the "Custom models" section, please try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache.

Ensure that you have the necessary permissions and access rights to the custom model.

Hello @Sandar Htwe Let me add some guidance to the 3 questions that you have raised.

Exporting custom models:

There isn't a direct option that's available to export a custom extraction or classification model from Document Intelligence Studio.

However, you can use the Copy model feature to move trained models between different Document Intelligence accounts or even into other accounts

Alternatively, you can also leverage the Copy API that allows you to copy custom models

Finding custom models in Azure portal:

Navigate to Azure Machine Learning workspace where you've been working with Document Intelligence

Look for the Custom models section

Folder path for Custom Model Project:

When creating a custom model project, the folder path you filled in refers to the location where your training data is stored

If your training documents are in the root of the container, leave the Folder Path empty. If not, enter the relative path from the container root to your subfolder

Thank you! I managed to complete the Copy API operation here. The goal is to get the custom model from an account, to another.

Double checked with the track target model API, it exists at the target account & resource. However, when going to Document Intelligence Studio -> Custom extraction model, (link) I can't see the project there

Just wondering if this is intended behaviour, and if so, how can i specify the storage account for training, and run further training etc?

Based on the information provided, it seems like the custom model is not visible in the Document Intelligence Studio after copying it to the target account. This could be due to below reasons:

The custom model was not copied successfully: It's possible that the copy operation did not complete successfully, resulting in the custom model not being available in the target account. You can try copying the custom model again and verifying that it was copied successfully.

The custom model is not associated with the correct storage account: When you create a custom model in the Document Intelligence Studio, you need to specify a storage account to store the training data and model files. If the custom model is not associated with the correct storage account, it may not be visible in the Document Intelligence Studio. You can check the storage account associated with the custom model and verify that it is the correct one.

The custom model is not published: In order for a custom model to be visible in the Document Intelligence Studio, it needs to be published. If the custom model was not published after it was copied to the target account, it may not be visible in the Document Intelligence Studio. You can check if the custom model is published and publish it if it is not.

Regarding your question about specifying the storage account for training and running further training, you can specify the storage account when you create a new custom model project in the Document Intelligence Studio. You can also update the storage account associated with an existing custom model project by going to the project settings and updating the storage account information. Once you have specified the correct storage account, you can run further training on the custom model by uploading additional training data and retraining the model.
