Hello,

We have provisioned a file share in the storage account. We want to monitor the audit logs, i.e, when the file is getting dropped, who is accessing, soft delete history, data classification stored in the file (?). In this documentation, I can see that diagnostic setting is available in preview mode for monitoring azure files- https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/azure/storage/files/storage-files-monitoring?tabs=azure-portal

In the classical monitoring, I can see diagnostic setting, however for files logging for read\write\delete is not available.

My questions :

1) How can I enable monitoring for Azure Files for logging read\write\delete metrics for the users who are accessing it.
2) We are going to store sensitive data in the file share, is there a way I can ensure that storage is complaint for regulatory compliance of the data (like - Personally Identifiable Data, AML Data) etc?

Thanks,
Prasenna

    @Prasenna Kannan

    1. There’s a storage logging feature that’s currently in preview that can be used to monitor read, write and delete operations

    If you’re interested in joining the preview, please complete the following form: https://forms.microsoft.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=v4j5cvGGr0GRqy180BHbRxW65f1VQyNCuBHMIMBV8qlUM0E0MFdPRFpOVTRYVklDSE1WUTcyTVAwOC4u

    1. This doc says all Storage Services (including Azure Files) is PCI DSS compliant https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-compliance-offerings?toc=/azure/storage/files/toc.json

    Hope this helps!
