ASR Adding Multi-VM Consistency Fails with Error 150029

Trying to build an ASR POC. On the source site I've got a domain controller and 2 other VMs hosting a SQL Server failover cluster configured with S2D as the cluster storage. Enabling replication on the domain controller completes as expected. When attempting to enable replication on both SQL server VMs using multi-VM consistency via a replication group the "enable replication" job fails with errors 150029 and 539.

The recommendation is "Disable replication of the virtual machine to remove the stale configuration and then enable replication. If the problem persists, contact support." I've removed the VMs from the replicated items, uninstalled the ASR Mobility service from the source VMs + reboot, however, the problem still persists.

Any advice would be appreciated.

For an unknown reason the error appears to have resolved itself automagically. Up until today any attempts to restart the failed reprotect job would result in a failure.

In order to properly document my support case I went through one last attempt to reprotect the VMs in the DR region and to my amazement it worked.
