When I try to set up my Microsoft Phone Link with my mobile device the option on my Dell laptop is grayed and above it says "Some of these settings are managed by your organization" so I am unable to click the allow toggle so I can set up the PhoneLink app on the laptop. I am the owner of this PC, I bought it from a local pawn shop, so I am unaware of what organization it is referring to. I've asked ChatGPT and it says to use the Run command and open the Local Group Policy Editor which I did. Then it says to go to Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates then System, but doesn't give further instructions of where to find it in the System. Can someone please tell me exactly where to go to find the option so I can allow my pc access to my mobile device, please

    Hi, @Jerika Morse

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

To find the option to allow your PC access to your mobile device via Microsoft Phone Link, follow these steps:

    1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run command.
    2. Type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
    3. In the left pane, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Device Installation > Device Installation Restrictions.
    4. In the right pane, double-click "Allow installation of devices that match any of these device IDs".
    5. Select "Enabled" and click "Show".
    6. In the "Value" field, enter the device ID of your mobile device. You can find this ID in the Device Manager on your mobile device.
    7. Click "OK" to save the changes.
    8. Close the Local Group Policy Editor.
