On March 2023, we announced Container insights recommended alerts (custom metrics) (preview) will be retired on 14 March 2026. Since the replacement offering is now in General Availability, we are moving up the retirement date to 31 May 2024 to ensure you are using the most reliable service to monitor your Kubernetes clusters. Reminder that the custom metrics powering these alerts will be retired as well.

Regarding this announcement, my customer is asking if this date (May 31st) will be the date when this kind of alerts won't work anymore or if this kind of alerts won't be able to be created anymore.

In the other hand, he is also asking for if this date can be extended because of they won't be able to change all the alerts in just two months. We have brought the date forward by 2 years.

    Hi Pablo Molano Villar

The retirement date of May 31st, 2024 means that after this date, the Container insights recommended alerts (custom metrics) (preview) will no longer work. This means that any existing alerts that are based on these custom metrics will stop working after this date.

Regarding your second question, I'm afraid that the retirement date is not something that can be extended. However, I would recommend that your customer start planning for the migration of their alerts as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition. They can refer to the Azure Monitor documentation for guidance on how to migrate their alerts to the new offering. If they have any specific questions or concerns, they can also reach out to Microsoft support for assistance.
