How to use Microsoft Azure DeviceClient with MQTT in .Net Framework 4.6.1

For a legacy WinForms application (.NET Frm. 4.6.1), I need to use Azure IOT device client to send events.

When trying to create an instance like below with MQTT type, It throws "Operation is not supported on this platform." error.

DeviceClient deviceClient = DeviceClient.CreateFromConnectionString(deviceConnectionString, TransportType.Mqtt, options);

If tried with HTTP then it throws: "Plug and Play is not supported over the HTTP transport."

The error "Operation is not supported on this platform" occurs because the MQTT protocol is not supported in .NET Framework 4.6.1. To use MQTT with Azure IoT DeviceClient, you need to use .NET Standard 1.3 or later.

However, you can still use Azure IoT DeviceClient with HTTP in .NET Framework 4.6.1. The error "Plug and Play is not supported over the HTTP transport" occurs because Plug and Play is only supported over MQTT or AMQP. If you don't need Plug and Play, you can use HTTP to send telemetry data to Azure IoT Hub.

Did you try using the AMQP?

Thanks for response. AMQP is also not working. Throws [System.PlatformNotSupportedException: 'Operation is not supported on this platform.']

What is the other alternative to plug-N-play? is there any documentation for 'Non-plug-N-play' example?
