Unable to Undelete a Soft Backup

Hello, a few backup items were recently deleted in error. These are on premises devices that are backing up via the MARS agent.
Settings for soft-delete were/are set on the vault to retain on premises workloads, as shown below.
Documentation online indicates that I should be able to go to the Backup Items on the vault to undelete. When going to backup items, I can see the 10 items being backed up by Azure Backup Agent.
The backups in question can be seen as expected.
However, from this page, navigating into one of the items via "View details", while the banner does indicate that the soft delete policy is in effect, there is no way to undelete it, the interface for it is not present. Is there any advisement that can be offered on this?

If you are unable to undelete a soft-deleted backup in Azure, there are a few things you can check:
Check if the soft-deleted backup is still within the retention period. If the retention period has expired, the backup data may have been permanently deleted and cannot be undeleted.
Check if the backup item is in a state that allows undelete. For example, if the backup item is in a deleted state, you may need to first stop protection and then undelete the item.
Check if you have the necessary permissions to undelete the backup item. You need to have the Contributor or Backup Contributor role assigned to the Recovery Services vault or the backup item to undelete it.
Check if there are any errors or warnings in the Azure portal or in the Azure Backup logs. These errors or warnings may provide more information about why the undelete operation is failing.
If you are still unable to undelete the soft-deleted backup, you can contact Microsoft Azure technical support for further assistance.

2024-03-27T21:04:53.2633333+00:00 Thank you for your response. Yes, the backup was just deleted today, so it is within the retention period. I can also confirm that I am working under Owner access on the subscription. Do you know if I need to explicitly add the roles you mentioned to allow for undeletion?

2024-03-28T08:57:04.4266667+00:00 @Chris Crow If you are working under Owner access on the subscription, you should have the necessary permissions to undelete a soft deleted backup item in Azure. The Owner role has full access to all resources in the subscription, including Recovery Services vaults and backup items.
However, if you are still unable to undelete the backup item, you can try explicitly adding the Backup Contributor role to your account. The Backup Contributor role provides permissions to manage backup and restore operations, including undeleting soft deleted backup items.
To add the Backup Contributor role to your account, follow these steps:
In the Azure portal, go to the Recovery Services vault that contains the backup data for the item you want to undelete.
Click on the Access control (IAM) tab and select Add role assignment.
In the Add role assignment blade, select Backup Contributor from the Role drop-down list.
In the Select field, search for and select your account.
Click on the Save button to add the role assignment.
Once you have added the Backup Contributor role to your account, try undeleting the backup item again. If you are still unable to do so, there may be an issue with the backup data itself. In this case, you may need to contact Microsoft Azure technical support for assistance.
