Hi, The APIM is STV1 platform, I m trying to migrate it to STV2 platform , but then under When I click on Platform Migration blade , I m routed to documentation, But then I was trying to find the migrate button to get started with APIM migration, Can someone help me with this. Hi to add to Janani's comment - in a nutshell STV1->STV2 for a Dev or Premium SKU APIM which is VNET injected is triggered by the network update operation (once prerequisites are met as per the linked doc)

When there's no VNET there's no possibility of triggering the migration this way, but in addition the requirements on the customer are also less, hence the team provide a portal or REST API trigger

As shown it says, the migration implies updating the underlying compute platform with no impact on the service/API configuration persisted in the storage layer.
How can we do this? Because, it says the process involves creating a new compute in parallel. What does this mean? Do I manually need to provision a new Azure API Management instance in stv2? then, manually, export all the APIs configuration (from APIM stv1), and then import everything in the new APIM instance (stv2) and finally resolve networking capabilities with the Vnet injection and so on?

Hi Juan - As per the doc you link which is about moving a vnet attach APIM (It's very important you read this carefully to ensure you understand the steps and prerequisites required) - the network change to the new subnet - as part of the steps to migrate - will force new compute to be deployed. The original content/config/storage is untouched, the original stv1 gateway will continue to serve traffic during this time so the data plane is unaffected too. You need to do nothing other than meet the prerequisites as documented and start the migration through the network update as described in the doc. The rest is done for you behind the scenes. When the new compute is up and working (pointing to the original and untouched config/storage etc) one of two things will happen.
(1) if you use custom DNS the default DNS will continue to point to the old compute you choose when to move your DNS entry to point to the new private ip for the new compute.
(2) if you're not using a custom name then the default DNS will be moved post migration automatically for you once the migration is completed.
Either way the old compute is removed automatically after 15mins (unless you explicitly request a longer duration through support.
You can move back to the original subnet if you wish, once the old compute is vacated via a further network update as per the doc.

Is it possible I can provision an APIM stv1 instance? I want to mimic the migration plan from stv1 to stv2 in a DEV environment, prior the real migration in production.

Hi - Where a customer is using their own DNS solution each VNET would have the IPs for the DNS servers under the VNET settings as per https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/azure/virtual-network/manage-virtual-network#change-dns-servers

If you're using a custom name in APIM (if APIM is in "internal mode" and "VNet attached" then you'd need either a private DNS zone and/or custom DNS server to link the custom name to the APIM private IP) then you can check by going to the APIM resource in the portal and look "custom domains" menu item as per https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/azure/api-management/configure-custom-domain?tabs=custom#set-a-custom-domain-name---portal

Hello Janani,

I'm also experiencing the same issue like @R Aishwarya ; yesterday we tried changing simply the associated VNET (we have a VNET-internal APIM) but nothing seems to happen. Is it a known issue and is there a solving workflow for that?
