Desktop Windows Files Missing After Windows 11 Upgrade

I have 2 computers, one a desktop computer and one a laptop.

I recently updated my laptop (completely different files and folders from my desktop computer) to Windows 11. In this process, due to me having specific files syncing with onedrive for my desktop computer and of course I do not have multiple microsoft accounts, my local files and folders on my laptop were overwritten with the onedrive data that was on my other (still in use) computer.

I have lost 15+ years of my photography and design files due to this overwriting. Please let me know if there is any way to do data recovery for local files lost due to an OS update and Onedrive syncing.

None of the files overwritten were in onedrive previously so all data recovery through onedrive is moot.

Losing 15 years of important files is a major setback.

There are data recovery software programs available that can attempt to recover overwritten files from your laptop's hard drive.Important to note: Stop using your laptop immediately to increase the chances of recovery. The more you use the laptop, the higher the chance of permanently losing the overwritten data.

Access OneDrive online through a web browser and go to the Recycle Bin section. You might find your files there.

    Hi,

Is there no photo on the website either?

Normally, files are added synchronously, and the original files will not be overwritten or deleted.

It is recommended that you check whether the account is not synced or the account is incorrect. You can also sign in to the web version of OneDrive to see if you can find the photos on the web.Just checking in to see if the information was helpful.
