    Hi Varma,

We appreciate your engagement with us on the Microsoft Q&A forum.

If a virtual machine (VM) is not included in the dynamic scope of Azure Update Manager, you can create an alert by following these steps to address the situation and generate an alert:

    • In the Update Manager, enable the "Alerts (Preview)" feature if it is not already activated. This feature is crucial for monitoring and alerting. You can prefer the screenshot below: alert
    • Next, you will need to create a new alert rule within the Update Manager. Start by clicking on the “Alerts” tab, and then select “+ New alert rule” to initiate the creation of a custom alert. This action will open a form where you can specify the details for the alert rule.
    • For the signal type, choose “Custom log search,” which allows you to define a query that will check for missing VMs based on your specific criteria.
    • Define the severity level of the alert. Set up notification methods, such as email or SMS, and specify the recipients. Review the alert settings and click “Create”. Azure Monitor will now check for VMs and send alerts accordingly.

Additionally, Refer the link to create alerts://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/azure/update-manager/manage-alerts?source=recommendations

For your reference, we have configured the system to generate alerts for VMs that are not within the dynamic scope of the update manager as shown below:
