Anyone else receive a notification that their Access to Azure Active Directory subscription had been cancelled?

I received an email indicating our Azure Active Directory Access subscription had been cancelled:

Save your data before it’s deleted

We’re sorry to see you go. Since you cancelled your subscription, we’ve disabled your services. If you have data stored in this subscription, we’ll keep it safe before permanently deleting it on August 7, 2024. Please log in and save any important data you may have stored in this subscription before then.

At first, I suspected spam, but the sender email address is valid, and the Subscription ID is provided in the email, and is accurate.

I did not cancel our subscription. When I try to access logs, it errs out, indicating:

DisallowedOperation: The current subscription type is not permitted to perform operations on any provider namespace. Please use a different subscription.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thank you.

Just got the email and yes, blood pressure went up! Checked headers to verify it came from MS. The move to Entra ID was my best guess after getting down from that mountain of despair. Why would MS ever send something like this out, is the perfect question.

Why wouldn't MS send out an email stating that this is caused by..... AI or the devil after having knowledge that this is happening?

I do remember something about Azure AD going away though and being replaced by Microsoft Entra ID, I wonder if that means a paid subscription is no longer required.

What's odd though is that the email wasn't sent to my company email where we do have an MS AD subscription, it was sent to my personal Gmail account that is not tied to my work account at all.

    Hi DocFixem,

None from my end but it's quite odd that you cannot access the logs to see who cancelled the subscription.Hope the documentation can help but better call Microsoft also.

OMG I just got the same email to my personal email address as well and had a mild heart attack!!

We have complex registered applications registered that will completely disrupt our organisation if they get deleted. I do remember seeing the phase out notice email a week ago so hopefully that's all this is. Below is the email about this.

Your subscription offer, Access to Azure Active Directory, will be disabled on May 30, 2024

You’re receiving this email because you’re an account administrator of the subscription of offer type, Access to Azure Active Directory.

Access to Azure Active Directory subscriptions were subscriptions that were used to connect to the Azure portal. These subscriptions aren’t required anymore because the new Azure Portal uses your Azure Active Directory access (also known as Microsoft Entra ID), so we’re deprecating these subscriptions. As a part of this deprecation, you can either cancel your subscription now or it will be disabled on May 30, 2024 and will be deleted on July 29, 2024.

If you currently have active resources in your Access to Azure Active Directory subscription, please upgrade to a new pay-as-you-go subscription by submitting a support ticket below.

If you need additional help, please submit a support ticket.

I got the same mail in Denmark. My blood pressure rose too. I think there's a job at Microsoft writing understandable mail's to endusers ?
