Hi there,

I'm having some trouble with SCOM monitoring on my Linux servers. More specifically, the heartbeat provider is grayed out, and the server appears in gray as well. I've checked that all other monitoring aspects seem to be fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this issue?

    Hello,

The grayed-out server in System Center Operations Manager typically indicates that the health service watcher on the management server is not receiving heartbeats from the agent anymore. This issue may occur if the computer that’s running the agent isn’t running or there are connectivity issues.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Apply the appropriate hotfix to the affected operating systems1.
    2. Exclude the agent cache from antivirus scanning1.
    3. Stop the health service.
    4. Clear the agent cache.
    5. Start the health service.

If the problem persists, you might want to try flushing the management server Health service state and Cache:

    1. Open the operations console Monitoring View.
    2. Navigate to “operations manager” --> “Management server” --> “Management Servers State”.
    3. In the Management Server State windows, select the grey state management server.
    4. On the tasks panel, select “flush Health service state and Cache”.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. 😊
