Cannot sync section groups in OneNote after I have renamed them

Hi,

I am new to OneNote. I am using Windows 11 and OneNote is part of Office 365.

Initially, I was able to create some notebooks with sections and subsections. But then all of a sudden (after having moved some sections between notebooks), i am no longer able to sync new section groups. If I create a new section group with sections in it and then name it something other than “New Section Group”, I will get the error message: incomplete sync, "We can't access this section file or the attached file because the file was moved, the file name is invalid, or the file permissions have been changed. (Error code: 0x2 bb0uj)" ).

On the other hand, when I try to create those section groups in the online version, there is simply no option to do so. Could you help to figure out how to create and sync section groups?

(By the way, the old section groups I created at the beginning are fine, I can even add further sections to them without the sync error occurring.)

    Hi @Katalin Balog

Firstly, please backup all the new section groups that are not synced successfully, as any unsynchronized data may be lost once you close the notebook.

Then close the notebook that includes these new section groups in the OneNote desktop app.

Go to www.onenote.com, open the notebook online > Click “Open in App” to sync the notebook to the desktop app.

Please click on each section tab and wait for it to load.  After all of this, try to create a new section group and check for sync issues.

This didn't work .When I closed the notebook in the desktop app, it created a misplaced section folder, with the relevant page in it. But it was still called New Section, not the name I gave it. On the other hand, online the new section group and section in it with the page doesn't show up at all. Same as before, as I described the problem.
