Hello,

I have changed computer and S.O. (from win 10 pro to win 11 pro) and tried to resync NAS folder (it's private NAS with no access in writing mode from others device).

In the old computer everything has been working for several years.

I do some mistakes, because considering that my Master data is in the NAS, I was hoping not to have to download everything, much less re-transfer to OneDrive

So I inserted the symbolic link to the NAS folder (a folder with the same name exists in cloud) into the OneDrive folder and I waited for for synchronization.

Results: it partially duplicated the folders, delete some files and after hours it remained in "looking for change" and the process did not end. The Quit option doesn't works and I have used the kill process from task manager.

From that moment the disaster began. I tried resetting OneDrive in every way to restart cleanly, but I have the same problem: "A lot of times when I quit correctly from onedrive, when I launch the app, Onedrive cannot found the local drive/link to onedrive folder and ask to re-signin and configure the app (folder location ,folder to synch).

Consider that I have tried to configure in default mode choosing the shares I had on OneDrive Cloud to tell it to replicate them on OneDrive Local (without a the NAS link).

What I have tried (with different combination):

  1. reset OneDrive with /reset option
  2. Change Folder Location
  3. Deselct all shared folder to have empty folder
  4. Uninstall/Install APP

Some time OneDrive complete with Synch OK, but If I Quit, the problem remain (It's not systematic).

Suggestions ?

Other two questions:

  1. how clean the computer from all entry when I disinstall APP to start really from clean situation
  2. He automatically starts downloading everything present in the Cloud. Considering that I have 750gb to block it I deselect the folders, but in some cases since the download has already started it doesn't let me do it and I have to wait for it to finish. Is it possible when configuring OneDrive to prevent it from starting to download everything?

Thanks

Stefano

    Hi,

For uninstall OneDrive completely, you can try this method:

    • Press Win + X and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
    • Run the following commands to remove OneDrive remnants:
        rd "%UserProfile%\OneDrive" /Q /S
        rd "%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneDrive" /Q /S
        rd "%ProgramData%\Microsoft OneDrive" /Q /S
        rd "C:\OneDriveTemp" /Q /S

    For prevent

    • Open OneDrive Settings.
    • Go to the Backup and Manage Backup.
    • Stop backup for the folders you don’t want to sync.

If needed, unlink OneDrive from your account at the Account tab and uninstall OneDrive:
