Dear all,

I am at my end with the following problem:

  1. Both my desktop and notebook is on the same network
  2. desktop name is My-PC

I can:

  1. ping my desktop 192.168.0.xx1 from my desktop
  2. ping My-PC from my desktop and get IPV6 ip address
  3. ping My-PC -4 from desktop and get IPV4 address
  4. ping My-PC from notebook and get IPV6 ID address

i can't

  1. ping My-PC -4 from notebook and get "Request timed out" on IPV4 address
  2. ping 192.168.0.xx1 and also get "Request timed out"

a. Both IPV4 and IPV6 is activated

b. both have obtain IP automatically activated

c. the desktop IP address is allocated on the router by mac address

What have I tried:

i After running various tests, Kaspersky say its not their firewall,

ii uninstalled VPN's

iii ipconfig/release, /renew, /flushdns,

iv netsh winsock reset

v netsh winsock reset

v.a i received one "access denied" error and checked under the 5 keys

v.b HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nsi{eb004a00-9b1a-11d4-9123-0050047759bc} that the user has full access

vi Boot into safemode with networking

Q1. I have ICMP open on firewall

Q2. Ethernet tested on Public and private

Q3. VPN option under system is deactivated

Please.... what is preventing IPV4 to work?

Thanks in advance

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

To further troubleshoot this issue, please kindly try below steps:

1.Please kindly run ipconfig /all on your desktop and notebook to check the IPV4 address assignment.

2.Run CMD command "tracert IPV4 address of desktop" from your notebook and see on which hop the traffic is lost

3.Run CMD command route print to check your routing table and see if there's working routing to the desktop.

4.You can also try to capture network trace of ping/tracert by wireshark or network monitor. By filtering the IP address inside you will see on where the traffic was dropped.

    Best regards,

    Jill Zhou
