Unable to change ownership of mounted partition of Azure file share

Hi,

I am using the Azure file share option on the Azure Linux VM, but for the same we are not able to change the owner of the file share mount directory.

Since it is by default mounted in /mnt/partition, I have mounted it on a separate specific directory but am still unable to change the owner of the directory as well as the files under that.

Also, files and directories created by the other users except the root user are stored with the root permission.

    Hi Durgesh ,

    Welcome to MS Q&A

    Azure File Share does not support manipulation of permissions within the mounted volume. Operations such as chown and chmod will not work with CIFS implementation of the SMB protocol.

    You will either need to create separate volumes for each permissions variation required, or select a different storage class/volume type for your volume.
