Hi,

I'm planning to use Power BI Service, and I understand that it is built on Azure, utilizing Azure Blob Storage for data uploads and Azure SQL Database for metadata storage. Could you help me estimate the total cost for these Azure services in addition to the Power BI licensing fees?

Thank you!

    Hello Sham,

    Thanks for your question.

To get exact costs for Azure resources (your blob and SQL) please use the pricing Calculator.

    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/calculator/

Power BI costs per user are listed here:

Power BI cost depends on what type of license and/or capacity is being used?
There is Power BI pro / Premium capacity/ Premium per user etc and these factors depends on what you are trying to establish ( what is the report refersh frequency, how many users would need to access the report etc)

Azure SQL database cost depends on what type of database and tier is being used.

You can have serverless Azure SQL database ( which pauses in case of inactivity) thereby saving cost etc.

So the cost optimized framework would depend based on your end to end detailed use case
