save web page in word so it works right for cell phones

i need to add in <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> to word htm/web files so text in tables does not get shrunk to unreadable sizes on cell phones.

so i add it in (using notepad+) and when i make further changes to the file and save the file in word, it removes the meta name line i've added.

is there some work around? (and why doesn't ms word add this in by default--people use the web on their phones all the time)

--save as filtered file = repeated irritating confirmation that i'll lose word formatting (if there is a way to turn off that confirmation, i could go this route)

--not using tables is not ideal; making the entire page a table and increasing the font size did not solve either for whatever reason

--making the text bigger in the tables is unreliable in the size it creates and it looks too big on a computer

--i don't want to use another web editor--i want to use word

okay--i think i have solved this. convoluted but doable and sharing because this might help someone else.

save the file as a filtered web page.

go to notepad, open the file, add the line <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">, save

then go word, save (which will return it to a regular word web page). the meta name remains in the file so it will work on cell phones with the right size text and you won't have to hit the confirm you know the filtered page removes office tags.
