CCMSETUP cannot access /CCM_Client application because it doesn't exist

I've installed Microsoft Configuration Manager on a server, installation seemed to complete fine, Configuration Manager Console runs, I'm able to discover devices via AD, etc...

I'm now trying to install the client on my laptop, but it fails with a 404 to find the /CCM_Client application.

I checked IIS on the Config Manager server, and that application doesn't exist. I don't see it elsewhere on the server either, not in /inetpub/wwwroot. Only an aspnet_client.

Does this mean some portion of my configuration manager installation failed? Or is there additional config/setup I need to do make this app available in IIS? What log file would I check to see if there was potentially an issue during installation?

Laptop ccmsetup.log contents.

This is how IIS looks on the Config Manager machine, which seems to explain the client installation error.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

We can check the log file ConfigMgrSetup.log located in C drive to see if there is any issue during installation. Also make sure the required Web Server IIS Prerequisites are selected during installation. Here is a step-by-step SCCM installation guide for your reference:

Thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Simon

Thanks, found the log file, quite verbose but I do see some failures in there, just not certain if some of that is expected or not. No hits on CCM_Client or IIS that look relevant. What could I search for related to the installation of this CCM_Client directory on the default site?

I do see some of the server roles listed for IIS missing, installing those.

Do you happen to have an example of a log or IIS sites after a successful installation? I'm still trying to confirm the installation failed somehow, and it isn't just that there are additional installation or configuration steps I need to take.

Thanks for the help so far!
