Hi,

I have configured Search with out any issue/error in Sharepoint 2019 standalone server. And when I run Full /incremental crawl, I am getting below error in crawl logs. I have created Web application with Communication site collection with News, Document library about 200 documents.

The first attempt to crawl this object failed. Another attempt is being made. ( Failed to retieve blob from URI
\SP2016Srv\gthrsvc_3b382cdd-3785-4954-8929-18b0eb89ae02-crawl-0\3c\0x43c.pdf.; ; SearchID = CF80643B-5D8D-4F5A-B1F0-F69C77BE92E5 ).

I have tried below steps but issue could not be resolved.

1. Right-click on the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\15.0\Data\Office Server\Applications\3819458f-2197-4849-a04a-e97e4ead9873-crawl-0\gthrsvc folder, select Shared with ==> Advance sharing

  1. In the Sharing tab, select "Advanced Sharing"
  2. Check "Share this folder"
  3. In the Share name text box, enter gthrsvc_3819458f-2197-4849-a04a-e97e4ead9873-crawl-0
  4. Select the Permissions button and add WSS_ADMIN_WPG with Full Control

Appreciate if any one can provide a solution for this issue.

Regards,

Saya

    Dears,
I resolved the issue by opening SMB Service
    Set-SmbServerConfiguration –EnableSMB2Protocol $true

    as search using sharePath \SPServerName\gthrsvc_id-crawl-0
if SMB service stop the path is not accessible..

Marked is as answer if resolved the issue :)

Hi Saya, thank you for posting in the Q&A forum.
Here are a few things you can check to narrow down this issue:

    1. Check your local network condition and make sure File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is enabled on the network adapter.
Reference: SharePoint 2019 Crawl Error: The first attempt to crawl this object failed. (Failed to retieve blob from URI…).
    2. Give WSS_ADMIN_WPG Full Control permission on a higher level of the cache folder, for example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\15.0\Data\Office Server\
    3. Do you have Alternate Access Mappings (AAM) configured in the farm? If yes, reconfigure AAM, reset the search application, restart the search service and then run a full crawl again.

If the issue persists, please check the System Event Viewer or ULS logs for detailed error message while performing search crawls.

Thank you ChelseaWu for the reply.

I have verified File and Printer Sharing and full control to WSS_ADMIN_WPG as well. Everything has done as expected. Regarding AAM, we have default zone URL is there but still i have performed tasks as per your advise. Still issue is remain.

Here is the logs for the same.
