We have a on premise network file share. Our current Domain joined laptops are able to open excel files, saved as xlsm. No issues. On our newer Intune Azure joined laptops, the user can get to the network file share and see the excel files. But then get pop up saying "ccess denied, would you like to request for permission on share pont."

If yes selected another prompt saying "opening a file at this location....xlsm can contain virusus would you like to continue"

If yes selected a further pop up giving file location (on shared file drive) and name cannot be found, reason may be

The file name or path does not exist.

file being used by another program

The workbook you are trying to save may already have same name as another workbook.

Seems to be just xlsm files. xlsx files seem to open from the same location with no issue.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi @James Gledson

Will this issue occur if you copy the .xlsm files out of the previous folder, such as to Desktop folder.

Are these .xlsm files stored on SharePoint server, and synced to local device via OneDrive?

If not, just a network file server, I suggest you following the link: https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/deployoffice/security/internet-macros-blocked#files-centrally-located-on-a-network-share-or-trusted-website

    • Designate the location as a Trusted site

    • Add the location to the Local intranet zone

Besides, please set the Network locations as a Trusted Location in Office apps. For more information, see Trusted Locations for Office files.

If yes, please refer to the link: https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/deployoffice/security/internet-macros-blocked#files-on-onedrive-or-sharepoint
