Sorry, not possible...
New-MailboxExportRequest for RemoteMailbox of type "Office 365"
Customer requested to export the 365 mailbox into PST.
They use exchange hybrid - exchange server 2016 & exchange online.
The previous PST export procedure they used were initiated from on-premises exchange.
I know the following options are possible for 365:
- In-Place discovery export to PST from https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/51268.office-365-export-mailbox-to-pst.aspx
- Outlook client side export to PST
- Mailbox migration from 365 to on-premises and than initiate PST export via GUI/powershell
- Use of 3rd party tool
But the customer preferers the old ways...
Is it possible to export the "Office 365" mailbox directly from on-premises exchange?
Maybee via linking the Get-RemoteMailbox to New-MailboxExportRequest in such a way, that the output would be a PST.
Probably not, but asking anyway...

2020-11-24T04:42:57.433+00:00 Unfortunately, "New-MailboxExportRequest" doesn't work for Exchange Online mailboxes and we cannot export O365 mailbox items directly at present. If needed, we can vote or post the requirement to O365 UserVoice. Your ideas will be noticed there.
There is a similar feedback, you can vote here: Export mailbox in Exchange Online to pst using PowerShell or other method.

finaly we offered the customer the "Content Search" procedure via https://compliance.microsoft.com/contentsearch
and added the responsible person to
- Compliance Administrator
- eDiscovery Administrator
finally they successfully followed through the procedure and exported the mailbox
thanks for quick answers
would accept both previous answers, but can select only one
