Hello,

Exchange Server 2019 on-prem - zero mailboxes hosted - all mailboxes in Azure Exchange Online

Basically using Exchange Server 2019 for AD mail attributes and SMTP server

We have a new security policy for all accounts with "Password not set to expiry" to be reviewed and setting removed.

I came across these accounts in AD, about 32 of them.

Can I reset the password as per our security policy recommendation (30 x char) and can I apply an AD Password Policy to expire the password in 365 days?

Wonder if this will cause any issues on Exchange...

Thanks!

    Hi @SenhorDolas

Welcome to the Microsoft Technical Support Forum.

Based on your description, resetting passwords and applying password policies won’t directly impact Exchange Server functionality. However, ensure that users update their credentials in any email clients (such as Outlook) after password changes.

Additionally, consider enabling Modern Authentication in Exchange Server 2019 for enhanced security. Modern Auth allows users to authenticate using ADFS and access tokens.

Remember to test any changes in a controlled environment before applying them to production. If you encounter any issues, you can fine-tune the policies as needed.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries.

    Best,

    Jake Zhang

    Hi @Jake Zhang-MSFT

The question is about the healthmailboxes in Exchange Server 2019, I understand that this should not affect the users.

@Andy David - MVP please can you assist with one?

    • I need to reset the passwords so that the security scans pass as the passwords would be less than 1 year old.

    Thanks
