When the 'auto resolve' option of the alert rule is disabled, alerts start firing, but when enabled, the alerts stop firing. What is the use of 'auto resolve' feature of alert rule?

When auto resolve option is enabled, alert will be active till the time the condition is matching, e.g - if you have received an alert for VM cpu percentage > 80% and alert is running with a frequency of 5 mins, then if cpu remains > 80% then you are not going to receive fresh alerts as the existing alert will be still active. However if auto resolve is not enabled then you will get alert for each successful evaluation, so essentially multiple alert notification .
