Broken test account, I used my work email to create a free azure account and it broke my work account.

I recently created a free Azure account but made the mistake of using my work email(with its own Azure access) to create the account. This has produced a strange bug where I do not have my tenant that is effectively blank; I have a husk of my company domain, and I am stripped of all privileges or most. I am unable to open Entra ID and investigate. On the flip side, I have no way to access my work's actual Azure portal. is there a way for me to wipe this process and start anew with my personal account? (I already tried to simply make a second account but I'm assuming using the same debit card has denied my personal account) This is a twofold problem: I have no lab to practice in for AZ104, and I am unable to perform ANY work in my works actual Azure portal. Someone else has had to make this mistake, but I can not find any information on how to reverse it. Please help.

    Hello Brody Strock,

Thank you for posting your query in the Microsoft Q&A Community.

I understand that you have created a new Azure tenant with your work email. Since your Organization already exists in Azure, a personal account will be created for you after the process. Hence, your account is a dual account.

Let's start with your work account access, you either force the authentication to this account by accessing your tenant using the URL (portal.azure.com/tenant-id-of-your-organization) or via Incognito. Once you try accessing your account via incognito, you will be presented with the same screen as shown in the screenshot below. Select the work or school account to access your work portal.

For the personal account created, since you won't be able to create a new Azure account using the card, I would advise you just rename it. This will allow you to change the email associated with the account.

    Hi @Brody Strock

    Thank you for reaching us!

I understand that you have created a free azure account with your work email, and you lose the access to azure portal, and you would like to wipe the procedure what you did.

Based on your error screen shot it seems your organization admin of your company may have restricted access to Azure AD admin portal for non-admin users.

If this is the case, there are two methods to solve this issue:

    • Add your account as an admin of AAD by following To assign a role to a user.
    • If you are not allowed to be the admin of your company, the admin needs to close the restriction by selecting "No." Then you can access Azure Active directory as a non-admin user.

The other side about to wipe your azure free account please refer the Cancel and delete your Azure subscription.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.

    Thanks,

    Akhilesh.
