User name change and alias addition keeps adding and undoing every AD Sync

We are currently running Active Directory for our user data base and an on-site Exchange server that communicates with 365 and Entra for our user's emails. Because of this, all the user details are pulled from AD and can only be edited in AD.

I have a user that submitted a name change. Our emails are pulled from the username in AD, which includes their last name. John Smith would be jsmith, for example. I am able to change their name, username, and email in AD and add the old email as an alias in the Attribute Editor just fine. The problem happens every sync with AD and Entra Connect. The first sync after the name change, it will go through normally and update the email, the name, and add the alias. But when the next sync happens in 15-30 minutes it reverts back to the old name, email, and has no alias. Every next sync goes back and forth with the information.

We have tried with just the username change and no new alias and the issue still happens. We even tested on another account and the issue still happens. Restarting the Exchange server doesn't seem to help either. Any help is appreciated!
