How can we stop certain updates/programs from automatically being installed?

I build computers for the company I work for. We specify Windows Pro for all of our computers, whether desktop or laptop. The first thing I do is uninstall the programs that are not needed to perform the job and anything that has to do with gaming. It is a business computer, after all, and the last thing the boss wants his employees doing is playing games when they are supposed to be working.

The programs we uninstall are:

  1. XBox and anything related to it that can be uninstalled.
  2. Outlook (New) - We install Office 2021 Professional - full suite (currently).
  3. Office 365 - It causes our Office license to kick out and I have to reactivate office every time it reinstalls.
  4. Teams (Personal) - causes Outlook 2021 to drop the menu button for adding a teams meeting in Outlook.
  5. Anything that says "Offer"
  6. Spotify - not needed on a business computer

There are a few others that I uninstall but they don't come back on their own and they are not all the same on every computer model. The first four will reinstall on their own. I am constantly uninstalling them.

Is there any way to stop them from reinstalling?

Thanks,

Jessica

    Hi @Jessica Dellario

    Welcome to our forum!

Please kindly understand that the Outlook tag here we mainly focus on general issues about Outlook desktop client.

The steps to uninstall Microsoft 365 depend on the type of installation you have. Follow the steps in this article to uninstall: Uninstall Office from a PC.

You may also try to run the Scan by using Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant - Outlook | Microsoft Docs to scan Outlook for any errors before uninstalling.
