unable to delete the Resource group and Recovery Service Vault

I am unable to delete the resource group Service "DemoServiceApi1" and vault "vault-AzureFileShareDemo" in Azure portal .Please help to delete as i want to discontinue with this and i have already cancelled the subscription.

Due to cancelled suscritpion i am unable to raise support ticket request from azure portal.

Kindly look and discontinue.

Hi Kavita,

This situation comes sometimes when the resource removal is not followed as per Microsoft recommendation.

What kind of error message you see while trying to delete the resources?

You can try a force Update of the resources through resources.Azure.com portal in the following way

Visit resources.Azure.com portal and sign-in with your account.

Find the Resource group and Vault: Subscription Name > resourceGroups > ResourceGroup Name > providers > Microsoft.Resources > deployments > find the vault you created there as below:

Now, on the right-hand side window, of the resource group, try a force refresh by the 'PUT' button followed by 'EDIT' to do a force refresh of the resource group.

Try deleting the resources after the step 3 is completed.

If that doesn't help, you can try delete the deployment as indicated below and try a manual delete:

Hi @Manu Philip

I can not see any API in the left hand side , in the middle panel there is Vault vault-AzureFileShareDemo but i can not delete this due to cancelled subscription. Kindly help to disable/delete the resource group and vault. As this is costing me for daily basis.

I tried with the above steps but now getting the below error saying there are existing resources within the vault. I have already deleted the myfirstazurestorage2417 from the portal. How i can proceed now? please help

I tried with the given step but now getting below error message.

Are you seeing a Storage Accounts under “Backup Infrastructure”

Navigating to Recovery Vault -> Backup Infrastructure -> Storage Accounts and check it.

Unregister the account just following the triple dots, right next to the Storage Account name and delete it.

Now try to delete the Recovery service Vault and see it works !

Hi @Manu Philip , i got the option for the Storage Accounts from the Azure portal.

but facing below issues. Kindly help for the below.

1. I tried to delete the storage account from the backup infrastructure as suggested.

After clicking on delete it is showing me error below

“Failed to delete operation.Failed to delete the protected server contains backup items. Please stop protection of backup items with delete data before attempting to delete the protected server”

2. I have checked the backup jobs and backup alerts and tried to inactivate but is giving me the errors below

Backup alert error when tried to Inactivate- Alert inactivation failed

Alert inactivation on resource 2516823494930101021_0_823cf9bd-0856-4fba-98b9-6cf7b1753b58 failed with error: The subscription '4364dd6c-fbc3-44f0-835c-ae830ef2d262' is disabled and therefore marked as read only. You cannot perform any write actions on this subscription until it is re-enabled.

Backup jobs is not giving any option to cancel or delete

Have you tried following the steps I provided in my first answer to force refresh/delete the resources? Here you need to perform the similar steps on the storage account

I tried to explore the storage account in the https://resources.azure.com/

under my resource , but it is showing me blank.

Earlier i have deleted from the azure portal. But for delete the vault it is showing the dependency which i have posted earlier.

Please try the command to Disables protection for a Backup-protected item

Disable-AzRecoveryServicesBackupProtection -Item $PI[0] -RemoveRecoveryPoints -VaultId $vault.ID
