I have a VMSS deployed in Central US region with Linux virtual machines and I also have my Azure DevOps organization in this same region, so my question is, when I compile and upload an artifact to Azure DevOps, will Azure charge me for this data transfer ? or will it not charge me because they are in the same region ? In which scenarios will I incur costs ?

When using a Linux VMSS in Azure as a self-hosted agent for Azure DevOps, and both the VMSS and Azure DevOps organization are in the Central US region, you will not incur additional charges for uploading artifacts because data transfer within the same region is free.

    Scenarios that May Incur Costs:

    • Different Regions: If the VMSS and Azure DevOps organization are in different regions, you may incur data transfer costs for inter-region transfers.
    • Outbound Data Transfers: Any outbound data transfer to the internet (e.g., uploading artifacts to external services outside of Azure) may incur costs regardless of the region.
