Trying to LINK my work Microsoft account to my certification profile in my personal account.

Last Monday I lost the link between my WORK Microsoft profile and my PERSONAL Microsoft profile. (Personal holds my certifications)

I try to link them back up and I'm being prompted to MERGE and I don't want to merge.

I have tried going to Settings and clicking on link accounts and am asked to MERGE and I've tried going to my WORK profile / certifications and adding a certification profile and again I'm prompted to MERGE.
