Hello,

  1. I created a tenant xxx.onmicrosoft.com, but I selected a wrong country.
  2. I decided to create a new tenant with the name xxx2.onmicrosost.com
  3. I deleted all xxx.onmicrosoft.com users
  4. I deleted xxx.onmicrosoft.com domain.
  5. I waited 96 hours
  6. I tried SPO-TenantRename function from SharePoint Online Management Shell. (to rename xxx2.onmicrosoft.com to xxx.onmicrosot.com)

Unfortunately, it shows "Domain in use":

Start-SPOTenantRename : Error Code: -757,Der Domänenname ist ungültig.

What should I do? The name is not easy to guess so I supppose something is wrong with Microsoft.

Thank you, any help would be really appreciated.

    Hello,

It will take up to 90 days to fully delete the tenant:

What happens to my data and access when my Microsoft 365 for business subscription ends?

I am still unable to rename the tenant. SPOTenantRename function shows me a message domain is in use.

When I use a site tenant availability check -> o365.rocks

    it shows: tenant available.

So how it is possible that I can create a new tenant but not rename the old one?

It is solved. Adding onmicrosoft.com domain is hidden under existing domain settings... and selecting add onmicrosoft.com domain (preview) option.

After adding it this way, SPOTenantRename worked.

    Thank you.
