Can I upgrade an Azure Reserved VM if I need to re-size my Machine because of extra use of the machine.

Hi,

We are currently using Azure with one VM.

We currently use the Standard B4ms 4vCPU's and 16GB RAM. I want to buy a reservation to save money of the same machine. However, because the application we use on that server is quite memory hungry, if we have more people using it in the future (not sure if we will or won't), am I able to upgrade to the Standard_E4as_v4 4vCPU's 32GB RAM.

These are both located in the same Region.

And also can I upgrade the reservation too? or do i have to buy a second reservation to the standard of the Standard_E4as_v4 and therefore have 2 running for a year/three years?

    Hi,

    Yes, you could resize the existing VM to Standard_E4as_v4 provided there is available capacity and quota at the time you attempt to resize.

    To your second question, No, there is no "reservation upgrade". What you could do is to exchange the existing reservation for a new reservation for the new VM instance family. Please see article below for specific details:
