We have a Log Shipping Setup having 2 instances of :

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard
  • with MS SQL server 2014

We have MS SQL EKM installed on both the servers with TDE enabled on them.
Both the setups are connected to same Key Managers(HA).

While running backup of 10MB of data, log shipment works perfectly fine, but if the data reaches 5GB or 10GB, the backup of log shipment fails.

  • With low Data: Log shipping works fine if 1 Key Manager is up or both are down. Both Backup and Restore are successful.
  • With large data: Log shipping works fine if 1 Key Manager is up. If both Key Managers are down, even the backup job fails.

We checked there was no restart of the SQL service when the backup job was running and failed.
