Im losing Azure credits for using Azure MySQL database without exceeding the limits

Hi, I recently setup an Azure MySQL database and it said that it is free to use up to a certain amount like:

compute: Free upto 750 hours

storage: Free upto 32 GB

And as u can see in the below image, my usage limit hasn't exceeded at all.

But for some reason, this database still gets charged every day so I lose some Azure credits everyday. And im confused why since I haven't use the free-limit for the database at all.

Do I get charged just for using Azure MySQL database ? I thought it was free

    Hi ,

if you have backup storage,always-on , data transfer or if you have enabled Geo-redundancy these lead to additional costs .

you can check all this by going and checking the cost details :

    Hi @ Siddhesh Sreedar,

Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.

In addition to Achraf Ben Alaya,

It's possible to be charged for using Azure MySQL databases even if you haven't exceeded the free usage limits.

    • If you are using a higher tier of the service or additional features that are not included in the free usage limits.
    • Backups or high-availability configurations might also undergo additional costs.

To check if you are using a higher tier or additional features, you can view your Azure billing history and details. If you have multiple databases or instances, make sure they are covered under the free tier.

Still, if you are unsure why you are being charged, you can contact Azure support for help. They will be able to identify the cause of the charges and provide guidance on how to avoid them in the future.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any further queries.
