We are currently working on integrating our NAS Synology backup with Azure Backup and are seeking advice on how to optimize the upload process for fast data transfer. Given the volume of data (25 TB)we need to backup, achieving high upload speeds is crucial for our operational efficiency and data protection strategy.

    @Hamza Amir Thanks for your patience in this matter!Azure Backup does not natively support direct backups from Synology NAS devices. This limitation is due to the way Synology handles its backups, typically sending them to Block Blobs rather than Azure Files or formatted VHDs in Page Blobs.

    However, you can use third-party solutions to facilitate this process. For example, Commvault Complete and Metallic SaaS by Commvault support mixed-mode backups for folders shared using both CIFS/NFS and offer faster incremental backups due to deep API integration. Additionally, Rubrik's NAS Cloud Direct supports mixed mode and forever incremental backups with Change list API integration.

    These solutions can help you back up your Synology NAS data to Azure Storage, providing features like immutable backups to protect against ransomware and the ability to back up directly to Azure without the need for local storage infrastructure.
