SessionDesktop application does not show up for members of the Desktop Application Group

I am currently unable to see the "SessionDesktop" application in workspaces where users are assigned to the Desktop Application Group (DAG) created for the session host. I have made sure that this application group is assigned to the correct workspace, as well as making sure those application groups are assigned to the correct users. Is there something I am missing?

Ensure that the users are correctly assigned to the Desktop Application Group.

RBAC Role Assignment: Make sure that the users or groups are assigned the appropriate RBAC role, such as “Desktop Virtualization User” for the related Application Group.

I can confirm that the user group is correctly assigned to the Desktop Application Group. I can also confirm that the user group has the correct "Desktop Virtualization User" RBAC role.

Ensure that the users are assigned to the correct Application Group and that their user accounts are not blocked or disabled.

If you're using Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) for user authentication, ensure that the Azure AD sync is working correctly and that the user assignments are up to date.

Verify that the Session Host has network connectivity to the AVD service and that there are no firewall or network policy restrictions blocking the connection.

The users are assigned to the correct application group for the DAG, and I can confirm that the user accounts are not blocked or disabled.

I can also verify the session host has connectivity to the AVD service, as other application groups do show up and I can still launch the other applications.

Thank you for the response once again!

I can ensure that the users are assigned to the correct Application Group and that their accounts are not blocked/disabled.

We are using Microsoft Entra ID for user authentication (I believe it is the same as Azure Active Directory), and I do see that there is a Microsoft Entra Connect Sync, but I am not sure how to ensure it's working correctly.

The session hosts positively have connection to the AVD service, as other applications in other application groups set by us do show up in the workspace, just not SessionDesktop.

The session desktop application does not show up in either Remote Desktop or Windows App.

I am first making a host pool, and from there it lets me make a default Desktop Application Group and assign it to a new workspace. Once that is deployed, I simply am assigning the group that needs access to it. I have made sure the Desktop Application Group is assigned to the workspace and this method has worked for other deployments, but recently it has not been working unfortunately.

Please provide us the below details to troubleshoot the issue further.

Could you confirm what kind of users are in the group you have assign.

Those are actual EntraID or hybrid users, not (example guest users?)

Please also try to use the AVD web client with of an affected user and see if he sees the session desktop.

Thank you for the response! The users are actual Entra ID users that we have created the accounts for through the Azure portal. They are not guest users.

I used the web client and signed in with an affected user account and can confirm the SessionDesktop application does not show up.

This issue needs deeper investigation need to check the backend logs and Azure technical support team will be able to help with this. I would recommend you open an azure support case. We are having the same issue here recently. When we assign users to sessiondesktop application it doesnt show up on the AVD service app.
