I’m trying to access documents on Office 365 that have been shared with me by my client who has a Microsoft 365 business account. I have a Microsoft 365 personal account.

To access the documents I usually need provide a verification code via an authentication app. I have not had any issues in the past with accessing these documents until last week when I started using the Microsoft Authenticator app on my new iPhone (14 / iOS 17.6.1).

With this new phone and app, when I enter the 6-digit code provided for my Microsoft account to access the Office 365 document from my client, I receive an error message: “You didn't enter the expected verification code. Please try again.” Here’s the info on the error code:

Error Code: 500121 Request Id: a3622acd-ed44-4ba3-a63a-51c5318c3200 Correlation Id: 527148a1-6026-6000-298e-6db41de35d74

I read the support articles to try to troubleshoot and called Microsoft Support two times. Troubleshooting I’ve already tried includes, updating software on phone, deleting and reinstalling the app on my new phone, deleting and reinstalling Microsoft account in app, and client resending new share links to the documents.

Microsoft Support technician said that I need to contact the app developer by leaving a message in the “Send Feedback” section. I did this two days ago and have not received a response.

I need to fix this issue because it’s impacting my ability to do my work.
