Yesterday I noticed there are now 3 options for Copilot in Recording & Transcription in Teams Admin center.

They are:

  • On with saved transcription required
  • On
  • On with transcript saved by default

I've looked for documentation explaining what these options mean but it appears the publicly accessible documentation has not been updated yet.

Could someone please enlighten me on what these 3 options mean?

These options refer to the settings for Microsoft's Copilot feature in Teams when it comes to recording and transcription. While the specific documentation may not be updated yet, I can provide an educated guess based on typical configurations and similar features. Here is an explanation of what each option might entail:

    1. On with saved transcription required: This setting likely means that the Copilot feature is enabled, and it is mandatory to save the transcription of the meeting. This could be useful for compliance or record-keeping purposes.
    2. On: This setting probably means that the Copilot feature is enabled, but there is no requirement to save the transcription. Users may have the option to save or not save the transcription based on their preferences.
    3. On with transcript saved by default: This setting might indicate that the Copilot feature is enabled, and the transcription will be saved by default. Users can still delete or manage the transcription if needed, but saving is the default behavior.
