Work Folders won't sync back

Hello experts!

Got a strange problem with Work Folders. For some users, if the file is created or changed by admin on the user's share, it won't sync back to user's PC. Error 0x8007017c displays at user's Work Folders, and sync is stopped until the file in question is removed.

All clients are Windows 10, server is Windows Server 2016 version 1607.

Server and client logs do not help.

Where could be the problem?

Thanks

Dmitry

    Hi ,

What's the OS version of your windows 10? 1909 or 2004? When did this issue start to occur? Before the issue happened, did you do any modifications? Or install any updates?

It seems that this problem is related to the latest patch.

If your OS version is 1909, please check if you installed KB4592449, uninstall this KB and then see if the issue is resolved.

If your OS version is 2004/20H2, please check if you installed KB4592438, uninstall this KB and then see if the issue is resolved.

Here is a similar thread, please have a look:

Work Folder (Arbeitsordner) Error/Fehler: 0x8007017c - The Cloud operation is invalid (Der Cloudvorgang ist ungültig)

    Best Regards,

    Candy

Thanks for the clue! It helped with the Windows client version 20H2, but not for 1909 or 2004. In the latter, new error prevents sync from working after corresponding update uninstall: An unexpected error occured. (0x80041006).

    Regards,

    Dmitry

We experienced the same issue after Dec 2020 and Jan 2021 updates KB4592449 and/or KB4598229 on Windows 10 1909 with Work Folders on Windows Server 1909 1809 File Server.

Uninstalling above updates fixed Work Folders sync.
