In a case where a tenant been inactive for long period of time, will the directory/tenant will eventually be deleted? For example, I had a tenant which I no longer has access to (credentials forgotten). I haven't signed into the tenant for a long time (more than one year). It also does not have any active subscriptions. Will Azure delete it eventually?

Since I have no access to the tenant, I'm unable to create support ticket from portal to delete the tenant. Is there any security risk to leave the tenant undeleted?

If you haven't signed in to your account for more than two years, it may be deleted, so you can no longer reopen the account.

An inactive tenant can pose security risk if someone has unauthorized access. It's generally recommended to delete inactive tenants as soon as possible to mitigate security risks and optimize your Azure environment.

If you cannot create a support request via the portal, you can possibly create one via the global support numbers of twitter:

Connect on Twitter or Global Customer Service phone numbers

You can mark it 'Accept Answer' and 'Upvote' if this helped you
