Hi,

I'm working with a Synapse workspace and I've noticed that in Synapse Studio, Data --> Linked --> Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, isn't visible the primary file system container. This container is also not visible in the related ADLS Gen2.

My Microsoft Entra user is a Synapse Administrator for the workspace, a Storage Blob data contributor for the related ADLS gen2 and an Azure Contributor for the related Azure resource group.

The Synapse ws has been created with an az synapse workspace create command, using an existing ADLS gen2 with the hierachical namespace enabled having no containers.

For another old workspace with analogue permissions I can see the related primary file system container.

I'd like to know the reason for a such different behaviour, please. Thanks

When creating an Azure Synapse workspace, the primary file system container in the linked ADLS Gen2 is created automatically by the system. However, if this container wasn’t created properly due to a glitch or permissions issue, it may not be visible in Synapse Studio.

Since you mentioned that the workspace was created using the az synapse workspace create command with an existing ADLS Gen2, it's possible that the creation process did not properly link or create the primary file system container.
