    Hi WalterMLCUEs,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q & A forum.

When using Azure resources in a training context, such as with Azure Sandbox, understanding the cost implications is essential, even with a free trial account.

    1.Azure Sandbox :-
Azure Sandbox is a free environment provided during specific Microsoft Learn modules. It allows you to use a temporary environment without incurring charges. Resources created in the Sandbox are automatically cleaned up after the session ends, so no charges will be applied.

    2.Azure Free Trial or Pay-As-You-Go Subscription :-
If you are using an Azure Free Trial or a Pay-As-You-Go subscription, there is a possibility of incurring charges for the resources you create.

    3.Deleting Resources :-
If you delete a resource immediately after creating it (such as a storage account), you will generally only be charged for the time the resource was active. These charges are usually minimal if the resource is deleted promptly, but this depends on the type of resource and its duration of use.

4.Best Practices to Avoid Charges :-

    • Resource Groups: It is advisable to create all resources within a resource group. When you’re finished, you can delete the entire resource group, which will remove all resources within it.
    • Monitor Usage: Regularly monitor your Azure Portal and Cost Management settings to keep track of your usage and potential costs.
    • Use Free Tiers: Many Azure services offer a free tier with limited usage. Whenever possible, stick to these tiers to avoid charges.
    • Understand the Billing Cycle: Deleting a resource does not necessarily eliminate all associated charges. If the resource incurred costs (e.g: storage used), you might still see charges for the usage up until the point of deletion.

5.Specific to the Module in Question :-

For the exercise in the module, you mentioned, if you follow the steps and then promptly delete the storage account, you should avoid significant charges. However, if you are using a Pay-As-You-Go subscription, minimal costs may still apply depending on how long the storage account was active.

To avoid any charges, consider using the 'Azure Sandbox' during training modules / ensure that your usage stays within the limits of the Azure Free Tier.
