I have recently been looking into the AI builder (specifically the models that can do form recognition like prebuilt models like invoices for example) and Document Intelligence (previously form recognizer), which also has prebuilt and custom models. My questions are: Does AI builder use document intelligence under the hood for form recognition tasks? Basically, is the same model being called when we use a prebuilt invoice model when using both AI Builder and Document intelligence? If so, why does microsoft have 2 different models that perform the same function. I understand document intelligence can be integrated with AI builder, is this to expand the capabilities of AI builder as it is a low/co code service? I have some follow up questions:

If AI builder uses document intelligence under the hood, is there a difference between the capabilities (like performance, accuracy of recognition etc) of AI builder (specifically for form recognition, be it with custom or predefined models) and Azures document intelligence? Or is the only difference in terms of end user's coding capability?

Could you direct me to documentation/let me know if there is any added functionality of document intelligence that is not available via AI builder? Since Microsoft doesn't actually compare AI builder vs document intelligence anywhere in its documentation, an alternative link states that:

AI Builder is heavily leveraged towards ‘citizen’ developers who prefer a truly no/low-code, lightweight experience that offers little customization, but high ease of use. Document Intelligence is geared towards pro-code, highly customizable workloads where scaling, control, and integration is key.

What kind of customization are we referring to here?
